Hello,
no the ballast feeds the lamp about 15kV so i do not recommend testing it. this part is also notorious for malfunctioning on Mits. models.
When was the last time you replaced the lamp?

Hello,
does the plasma tv shut off at any point? given the lines I have to say there's probably a notorious problem of an X or Y sustain that has to be replaced... more certainly the Y.
Hope this helps!

wow, i guess you're welcome! although it was your discovery  An analog signal (such as the coaxial antenna input) is one that has to go through the Digital Video Board which converts it into a digital signal ready for DMD projection. Re: Poor picture/color quality
Yes im afraid those symptoms, (if the distortion is happening with both analog and digital inputs) can pertain to the DMD board
but fear not, in saving a big screen like this the cost of a light engine is around 200$ which for an HD TV I think is relatively cheap price!

hello,
well it sounds like if you replaced the colorwheel properly and have a new lamp in there should be no problem, maybe the problem lies in an analog or digital video board, my first question would be if this TV has the same symptom on all inputs?
hope i can help!

Hello,
I think your ballast is weak and needs replacing, it takes 15kV to ignite this lamp and a weak ballast might not push through on bright pictures.

Hello,
You can replace the lamp if its been around a year since you last replaced it just to be preemptive, but this distortion is most likely caused by a bad DMD board..

Hello,
If you can lower your resolution (i read the HD gamer guy part) please give it a try... say from 1080 to 720... This may be an input compatibility or wear down.
How long ago was your lamp replaced? this is usually a lamp or ballast issue...
