Re: problem with hlr4667w wax/xaa

Hello! well the only 2 glass pieces that shatter can be the lamp and colorwheel, if the lamp blew then the ballast could have buzzed because it arched at the 15 kV it generates for ignition.. if the colorwheel blew then you would have heard a screeching grinding sound, the the wheel could have shatt...

Re: Samsung DLP HLP5674W

Hello! I would start by changing the power supply board (that which has the actual plug that goes to the wall) if that one survived the charge then the ballast might have received damage (the smaller board that plugs directly to the lamp). But I am almost certain the Power Supply board got fried! :s...

Hello again smith, I admire your spirit! :D hmmm to be honest a winding, grinding or screeching, sound as you know should be associated with a spinning object... Re: HLN5065WX/XAA Check Fan 1

Hello, Some TVs have an alternating wiring to the fans so yes it is possible for that to happen on some models with an induction/extraction cooling method where both fans need to run simultaneously. This can even be the ballast, you are correct about the colorwheel, it might be fine, the ballast cou...

Yes was there any update? if there was no physical harm to the buttons, its most probably a DMD (motherboard) issue.

If you are ordering from DM it is correct they refurbish complete components like that I have installed them in the past no problem! most of the times i buy it for the sole DMD and keep the ballast and colorwheel for future applications!

Re: samsung DLP TV SP56L7HX no sound no poicture

Well if the ballast fails, then it does not proceed with its only purpose and TV never turns on (ballast handles lamp ignition) If the colorwheel is bad then the detection of mentioned fail, tell the mother board to abort ignition. Please refer to some very helpful guides located at this forums home...

Re: HLP5085W - Won't power up & makes a whining sound.

 The only screeching winding sound I have come to hear in my years as a tech comes from a Colorwheel, this is the third most popular consumable part inside your TV after the ballast and of course the lamp. there are no other components that can cause this noise, also it is a very delicate par...

This sounds like just a lamp issue, when was the last time you changed the lamp? It can be very dim, so as to not give you a pic, these lights are brighter than the sun! if it is an old lamp I suggest you change it!

Re: Problem powering up Panasonic DLP - ballast?

Hello!

I also think as BYO says above that this is more probably a Ballast issue. Given the buzzing sound and the clicking sounds, I have to conclude that the ballast is weak and those symptoms are created when it cannot arc the 15kV needed to ignite the lamp and clicks to a stop... :(

Re: samsung DLP TV SP56L7HX no sound no poicture

this might be the ballast, but I would try a new lamp first since it is the most common part to go bad, if it was the color wheel you would have gotten some kind of discoloration before it went out...

Hope this helps

IT can be either, if the image itself is fine the distortion lies only in the color, you can troubleshoot by lowering the "color" setting down to a black and white, if there are no more distortions when looking at a black and white picture, I am 90% sure this is a colorwheel issue, and while you are...
