Re: How many hours does my HL56A650 have on it?

for customer whom I cannot find a reset hour timer function and cannot access the service menu, I usually just recommend they take out the lamp and leave the TV unplugged overnight. Then reinstall the lamp and close the lamp door and plug the set back on, this should have the timer running from zero...

Re: Samsung HLR4667W Colorwheel problem

Hello Dave, This sounds like a text book ballast issue :geek: (you can read multiple post for malfunctioning ballasts in Samsungs here on this forum) :x I would try replacing that, if you did the colorwheel work yourself, exchanging the ballast will be a walk in the park, see below for a sample guid...

true, and the DMD board will come attached to the complete light engine, (DMD, light tunnel, projector lens, etc). Yes if you take a look at the last image you posted that one, along with the fact all inputs are affected, points directly to the DMD board (includes the digital micro mirrors, hence th...

Re: Wavy lines and smears in picture

yes and no, all inputs are plugged directly into an input board that is usually called the analog video board, so even though the signal does not need reach the DV board it HAS to pass through an input board that can be faulty. I am starting to lean to the DMD board for some reason, (its so hard to ...

Re: Wavy lines and smears in picture

You are correct on all accounts, however I would not start replacing the power supply as a first since, if it is malfunctioning in a way it can damage the colorwheel, it has already done so, following that logic I would try the colorwheel first. Also I forgot to mention the overall Analog input boar...

Re: Samsung cuts out on bright images

hmmmm it can be, but I am doubtful, have you tried toying around with your TV settings? the refresh speed might be affecting... brightness... I would play around a bit before, because if anything is wrong I am almost sure it can be the ballast.

Re: Wavy lines and smears in picture

Re: HLP4663WX/XAA green outlines and specks in picture

Because of the color and the distortion you describe in the pictures, I think a safer bet would be to replace the colorwheel first as a cheaper way to trouble shoot, I am ruling out DV board since Analog and HDMI inputs seem to have same distortion...

Re: Samsung HLN507W Black and white picture.

Yes the image will get dimmer as the TV lamp ages, regular use consumes the mercury vapor required for the ignition of the lamp. hhmm no noises? i still think you should run a visual inspection of the colorwheel and while you are at it, dust the interior (this fixes the issue about 30% of the time w...

Re: Samsung HLR5667WX with red digital noise

Hello Jeff,
this could be one of three, colorwheel, Digital video board, or at the worst the DMDboard/light engine, you can start by opening up and dusting the inside of the TV, and taking a visual inspection of the colorwheel, make sure it is spinning freely.
