Re: Philips projection HDTV 50PL9126D 50" DLP NOISE

Hello! yes this can be one of 2 things, - a fan that is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced before it causes a component to overheat - or the colorwheel, which will start to give you hue/tint/color distortion. The easiest way to diagnose is to open up the back shell and clip the sensor (the one ...

Re: TV won't start - audio of it starting

Hello, this is definitely a colorwheel issue, after listening to the youtube audio. Sometimes it is going to act up and some times it wont, but given the color distortion I am 90% sure you need to replace your colorwheel!

yeah I would bite the bullet on a lamp and if it fixes it perfect! if not then at least its not the cost of a lightengine/DMD board ($300!!!).

Re: Grinding noise but picture is fine??

Yes and no, maybe! the colorwheel situation is a funny one. it can give you color distortion, but it does not have to. The sound of a dying colorwheel i would describe as a whirling, grinding, ball bearing ring... if you open up your tv and put a trip in the switch (its usually blue and is there so ...

Re: Capacitor on Lamp Ballast on HL61A650C1FXZA DLP

yes in the short run , bad in the long run, since it can allow an incorrect voltage to the lamp resulting in a shorter lifespan of the lamp, it is better to replace the whole board ;)

Re: Capacitor on Lamp Ballast on HL61A650C1FXZA DLP

I have no idea if a temp sensor can cause this, I do not think it can...
The power supply could be sending the wrong voltage, then again the most probable reason; maybe some components on the actual ballast are causing them to blowout. Have you tried replacing the complete ballast???

Re: Grinding noise but picture is fine??

Hello!
and YES!!! this is most likely a colorwheel about to hit the wall at top speed! or maybe just a fan... but if it is shutting down your TV or taking a while to sync up and boot, then I would replace the colorwheel because the bearing could be about to give out.
