dummy,
I know Discount-Merchant.com charges a core and they have the capability of either repairing them or sending back to the factory for replacements. From my understanding, the ICs need to be replaced and you need some pretty expensive equipment to do the job well.

Re: Disco lights
Agent,
Would be interesting to find out, was your lamp originally a Philips or a Matsushita? These two companies were the OEM lamp manufacturer for all the Hitachis. From most people's experience, the Philips far outlasted the Matsushita bulbs.
thanks!

Re: Buy an LCD, don't buy a plasma TV
artohorn, I'm curious, do you have a link to the rest results? Would be interesting to see how dated that review was as these technologies are changing so quickly. It used to be common practice for PLASMAs to have the burn-in effect, for them to overheat, or to consume huge amounts of energy. But th...

can you tell us the model of it? It helps to know if you have a Projection LCD model or a DLP model. It sounds like a Projection LCD but just to be certain

WereDOOMED, OK, so your Y Sustain Board is bad...It's also known as the Y-SUS BOARD...depending on which version of the part you have. I dunno if you already found this part but isn't it obvious...D-M.com has it in stock! Does you part look like this? http://www.discount-merchant.com/v/vspfiles/phot...

Re: Technicians Blame The Lamp
Nice explanation, couldn't have said it any better. It's also worth noting nearly ALL rear projection TV (RPTV) lamps, with the exception of some Toshiba and AKAI lamps are Alternating Current (AC) lamps. This means the polarization of the power connectors does not matter.

Re: Samsung HLR6168 Lamp Replacement
Samsung61,
Yup, you should be fine...they both use the Philips E22 100/120 1.0 UHP lamp. Replacing then would be fine. From my understanding, the BP96-00826A and the BP96-01073A are VERY similar in design...did you try to see if the enclosure fits?

The real problem is sourcing the replacemen...
