Whatever the problem was with the color wheel, a new one fixed it. The fans were fine although dusty.
Tech left me a full (small) bottle of Klear Screen. I love that stuff.

Thanks for the reply. I have an extended warranty and a Samsung Field tech is coming to replace the color wheel this afternoon. It does not have a high pitched whine though. Do color wheels have any other noises?

What Causes This Sound?
I searched the thread and most posts are about a color wheel whine. My HL-S5068W sounds like a car with a bad battery trying to turn over. It's low pitched and has a dragging sound. More of a rrrrr-rrrr kind of noise when I turn it on and off. So it may just be a fan? If I stand in front of the set,...
