Any Successful Repairs?
I have been working on my Samsung 43" DLP tv for over a month now. First I replaced the lamp, then the color wheel, then the #2 fan and lastly the ballast. Still do not have a picture. . . . In reading through this forum, I see many, many people experiencing the same sounds, symptoms and picture (or...

Re: Okay. . . what now!!
Yes, the color wheel is new. I do know that it was working because during the short periods when the tv comes on, it's in color. Then, the picture freezes into a b/w image. Eventually, you can't even get the lamp to come on.
Besides, how do I reset the lamp timer when I can't see the screen?

Re: Okay. . . what now!!
Okay guys, finally got the new ballast in and installed and it still doesn't work. It's doing the exact same think as I described above before the new ballast. Initially, the lamp came on then almost immediately the picture froze into black and white. I turned it off and unplugged it then turned it ...

Re: Okay. . . what now!!
Thanks Nightkid. I'll try replacing the ballast and let you know how it turns out. Oh, and if I get it to come on again, should I still try to reset the lamp timer? Haven't done that and I figure if it isn't a problem now, it will be at some point. Thanks again for your help!

Re: Okay. . . what now!!
THANKS Crowell and Nightkid. . . I just got around to trying to reset the lamp timer. The lamp wouldn't come on at all tonight. It made the power up sound 'da da da da da', then started humming like something was trying to power on, but no lamp. Then it would shut itself off and try again to come on...

Okay. . . what now!!
Okay, I replaced the lamp, then the colorwheel (it was shattered), then the #2 fan . . . now what? TV comes on and works for 5-10 minutes then picture freezes and goes black and white frozen image. I can turn it off and wait a couple of minutes then turn it back on and it will have a picture again. ...

Re: NEW Bulb- still not working
Update on above post. Left tv off for a couple hours and tried it again. Comes on and has picture. . . I'm thinking the fan is the issue; obviously it should be running. Anyone have any ideas other than taking it apart again and replacing the fan. . . man this is getting old; and expensive. I'm thin...

Re: NEW Bulb- still not working
I didn't explain it very good. . . it's not a fan inside a fan. There are 2 fans inside the tv. A small one circulates air on the dmd board and the larger one I am referring to is at the back of the tv, circulating air around the lamp/color wheel area. That one is not on. Is it supposed to be runnin...

Re: NEW Bulb- still not working
Eureka!!!!!!! Got the switch wires soldered back on, installed the switch and the tv works!!!! Yeah. . . . . One more question though. There was a small fan inside and a larger one in the back of the tv near the lamp. I've never noticed before but is the larger one at the lamp supposed to just come ...

Re: NEW Bulb- still not working
The lamp timer is a small program that keeps track of the hours that the lamp is in use. Some time the tv wont turn on after replacing the lamp because the DMD detects that the lamp hours exceeds the limit. So for security measures it doesn’t allow the tv to turn on. Here are the instructions of ho...

Re: What next??
Okay, after almost a week, my part came in and I put the tv back together this evening. Now, it won't power up. I think I may know the problem though. While I was taking it apart, I broke the little sensor switch that lets it know the back is on. It looks like the connection was just soldered on. Is...

Re: Help, what to try next
Thanks so much for the awesome pics. . . they are very useful. I pulled the projection bulb and case out and looking into the light tunnel, I can see colored pieces which I assume is a broken color wheel. I don't want to take it apart until this weekend when I have more time, but would like to order...

Re: What next??
THANKS Nightkid. . . Is there some diagram that I can look at to see where the various components are located so I don't have to take anymore apart than is necessary? I have taken the lower back off and you can't really see that much. I took all the screws out of the top part of the back and it appe...

Re: What next??
Thanks so much for the tip. I will do that tonight. I took the lower back off last night and peeked inside. I think I saw the color wheel in the center bottom (red looking) and it appeared intact. Will follow your instructions and let you know what I find. THANKS!

Help, what to try next
Have changed out the lamp and only have a flickering black and white picture. Hear a humming on start up, so some motor is running. Maybe it's the color wheel? Have taken the back off but don't know what to look for. Ideas?????

What next??
Okay, some background. . . we bought our samsung 43" dlp tv in May of 2004. I replaced the first projection bulb in 2008. Just recently, it went out again. . . with a lot of screeching noise. I replaced the bulb, again with another phillips bulb purchased through best buy parts online. This time, th...
