Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD

Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
Andy, It is a funny coincidence that you reached out. My set is now working as of a couple days ago. I have a good amount of info since our last communication. First, I found that the proper replacement DLP chip for my HLP6163wx/xaa is Samsung 4719-001962. I purchased a brand new chip but it did not...

Re: HLN617 No Picture Yet Bulb is On
I had the exact same issue with my HLP6163. After much diagnosis and parts wsaps it was the DMD board all the while. I was able to track down the newest substitute part via Samsung Parts/ J&J. I took the part number off the actual DMD board in my set and started digging. Then I called Samsung parts ...

Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
Andy, The site won't let me attach any more photos so here is the info. The label on the back of the DMD board reads" 04-10-18 BP94-00484A" Second line reads " 01259 L1/L2/L3/L4 110141124". It looks like manufacture date is 10/18/04 ( i bought the set in 01/05). Let me know if you need any more info...

Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
Grayfox, I ordered the chip you recommended and it does not fit my DMD board nor does it look like the existing DLP chip. I am having great difficulty figuring out which chip is right for my set. I have photos of the existing chip from my set that I've attached. Please stick with me on figuring this...

Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
The chip picture I uploaded above is on the board inside the aluminum shell (behind the fan and heat sink). The plug/ cable is in the below picture on the upper left of the board. It connects to the analog board to the left of it.

Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
Grayfox, I haven't ordered the chip yet but am about to do so. i just want to double check with you so i don't order the wrong one. Here is a photo from my DMD board behind the heat sink. Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
Thank you Grayfox. It is very helpful. Just out of curiousity, I'm constantly trying to learn about these sets, why do you go to the DMD chip and not the DMD board? Once again thank you.

Re: Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
Grayfox, The bulb is the OEM Philips lamp from DM. The full model number is HLP6163wx/xaa. My label has no manufacture date. It was purchased in January of 2004. I have attached the label which shows model and serial number. Now when you say DMD chip are you talking about the chip behind the big hea...

Samsung HLP6163 Light Engine/ DMD
I have an HLP-6163WX/XAA with a few problems. The set has a new bulb, ballast and color wheel that all work fine, until it doesn't. The TV will start normally and run with a great picture and all normal. When it runs for 20 -40 minutes the picture will start to look scrambled and will correct someti...
