Update - cart before the horse moment. I started to remove the back of the tv to photo the DMD board and on a whim decided to test the screen with a DVD movie. Thank you. Based on other posts it sounds like the DMD board. However, another responder wrote that Samsung changed DMD's in October 2006. The TV I have was purchased in November 2006. Samsung 42" DLP
