Re: Samsung HLP5063W Issue - Help!
It sounds as though the lamp and CW are not coming on. As much as it pains me to suggest this, I would take the back off the set again, trip the lamp safty for the cover, and turn it on. Check to see if the lamps fan(s) are working. If the lamp is on, try to see if you can see the changes in the lig...

Last Try...before parting this thing out !!!!!
This is my last try at seeing if there are any more bright ideas out there, that will lead to a fix. Set: HLN567WX/XAA Initial Symtom: Neither the lamp nor the CW would work when set was on (safety latch taped) What I have done: 0) Checked the fans 1) Changed the bulb. 2) Changed the ballast 3) Chan...

Re: Samsung hlt5075sx fan issue
If you take off the lamp cover and pull the lamp out, you can stick a screwdrive or the like in the slot with the cover sensor to trip the sensor and allow you to start the set. On mine, both fans begin spinning as soon as power is on. I would try a few on/off cycles to make certain both fans are on...

POWER PCB -If bad, what works, what doesn't?
I have another post asking when the color wheel should start, but also wanted to ask what I should observe if the power PCB goes out. When I power the set on, it starts as normal, fans spinning, electrical hum, but the lamp doesn't light, and the familiar sound of the ballast starting the lamp doesn...

When should the color wheel start spinning??
Hello everyone! One of these days I will be able to replace this old DLP set, but for now, I will try to fix it one more time. Here is my issue. About 6mos ago I had the color wheel shatter. I replaced it and the ballast since I had a new one. It has been fine until last night, when the lamp would n...

Re: PCB CODE to P/N Identification ?
Well, after some digging on the web, I believe I have confirmed that these are the correct parts, so now I need to figure out why I have no sound! I have the Service Manual, and it describes at a very general level how to test the analog board, but it doesn't tell you what kind of meter to use, or w...

PCB CODE to P/N Identification ?
Some time ago I needed to replace the Digital board on my set. Working through Justanswers at the time, I was given a Samsung Service Bulletin that stated that the "NEW" Digital Board which replaced the original board, also required that the Analog PCB be changed to a different board as well to avoi...

Replacing the Digital PCB..the Analog board also??
I was told by a TV technician that when I replace the Digital PCB board on my set, I also need to replace the Analog board as well, otherwise I could have audio problems? I have never read anything that suggests that both boards need to be replaced together. Anyone ever hear of such a requirement???...

Re: Problem Determination: DMD vs PCB
Okay. I now believe IT IS the Digital PCB board. I sought another opinion that had me look at Menu display again. As you know, the display is transparent which was making me think the lines were still there. But after looking closely at the icons and lettering, I could see that the lines did not aff...

Problem Determination: DMD vs PCB
I have a previous post where I described the dark lines I have acorss my screen that were fading away as the set warmed up, but now change in width and intensity only, but never go away any longer. Anyway, the DMD (BP96-00249A) was replaced last July, so I was hoping that was not the problem again. ...

Re: Looking for Digital PCB Instal Instructions?
Before putting the back cover on, I held the chassis interlock closed, and fired up the set to a beautiful picture. Shut down and waited for the fans to stop, then finished reassembly. I took my time, and it took about 90 minutes. Wow, Can't hardly believe all you did was replace the component..and...

Looking for Digital PCB Instal Instructions?
Looks like the Digital PCB board (BP94-00385A) needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where there might be installation instructions posted on the web? I have found them for Color wheels & Ballasts, but not for this part. Thanks

Re: Did you know about the color wheel aftermath?
I have a completely different set, so this may not apply at all to yours, but may give you an idea. In the "Alignment and Adjustments" section of the service manual I have copied what I think is the relevant information for my set. You may need to find out if the settings for yours are different?: 1...

Re: Identification: Philips vs OSRAM Lamp
Thought I would add one more point of fact. I just had the opportunity to look at the Samsung Service manual for my set. It lists not only OSRAM and Philips, but Toshiba as well! I guess they are all authorised suppliers.

Re: Shadow lines across screen at start-up only
Called my local Service company that replaced the DMD Board last July. He asked me to insert and play a DVD to see if the lines still showed. They did, and are now showing slightly even after the set has been running for hours, so getting worse. Does anyone know how playing a DVD helps isolate where...

Are the Samsung Service Manuals Useful???
I noticed that Samsung has a Service Manual listed on their parts site from my set for $28. I have never seen one of their service manuals to know if they contain detailed information that would allow us to repair many on the common issues, or if they are just some schematics and parts lists? Does a...

Re: Shadow lines across screen at start-up only
DaveC, Also, check your inputs.. Does this happen on all inputs? Try hitting the menu button on your remote immediately and see if the lines also appear over the menu screen or under... This is a good way to see if the problem is comming from the the digital board or the DMD board. Let us know! Thi...

Re: Identification: Philips vs OSRAM Lamp
Just thought I would add....I just looked at a close-up picture of a Philips bulb on the DM site and under the Philips brand it said...MADE IN CHINA! Go figure. I read bad things about rebuilding Philips bulbs with China made burners, and now it looks as though the bulbs being sold by DM as Philips ...

Identification: Philips vs OSRAM Lamp
I had read about a few folks having some issues with the OSRAM made replacement lamps so I opted to spend a few more bucks and get a Philips. However, the lamp I received does not say "Philips" on it, nor does it say OSRAM. I think it is a Philips since OSRAM lamps (at least those I have seen) have ...

Re: Shadow lines across screen at start-up only
BTW funny you mention the SMGP. I just had that problem on my sons XBOX 360, a well documented problem. I guess even though the Digital module is only 12 mos old or so it can fail, but I am thinking (hoping) it is something else although the cost on new units has come down a lot. Are there any ste-b...

Re: Shadow lines across screen at start-up only
Thanks for the replies. I'll try changing between the menu and channel screen tomorrow morning and see what I can observe. I didn't mention any noise in my previous post but since it was mentioned and just to clear things up, there are no unusual/different sounds so I am thinking it is unlikely that...

Shadow lines across screen at start-up only
Not certain if this problem is caused by the bulb, ballast, or something else entirely. When the set is first turned on (cold) there are very pronounced "shadow lines" which flicker a little and slant diagonally across the screen from the lower left to the upper right of the screen. It takes a while...
