Zenith dlp z52dc2d color wheel

Post by Gregutz » Sat Feb 12, 2011 2:53 am

Hey forum friends!

My Zenith started making the most rude sound the other day. I take apart the easy access doors and check all the 90mm fans for vibrations and buzzing. It was beyond these simple fans! Heres what I concluded:

The TV was vibrating my whole entertainment center
As soon as the TV was powered down the vibrating stopped, and the cooling fans were still running!

I knew at this point I knew the color wheel had shot, or was starting to go.

3 hours later, I have the color wheel removed from the depths of this tv!

My question now----- Where in the world do I find this part for my TV? I dont have the cash to replace the whole set, I just want to replace the colour wheel.
Is it called by another name on LG/Zenith sets? Can I get a part number?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers!

Hello!
Good and Bad news, the bad news is that these parts are rare and you will have to remove the original to get a part number since LG/Zenith and other share part providers... The GOOD news is that after you get that part number you will have an easier time because of multimple sets that use the same parts =)
hope this helps.
BTW im am almost certain changing the colorwheel will get your tv up and running! ;)

UPDATE!

Thanks for the reply grayfox~! I appreciate it.

I ended up calling Zenith/LG and was connected with MCM Parts company. They sent me an exploded-view of my television set and I identified the colour wheel. I called them back, and now the part will be here in about 2 weeks for $140.00 shipped.

I couldn't find any discernible part number on the color wheel, so I decided to stop stressing and just go with the MCM Parts replacement.

I'm happy, and I feel I only could of saved $20-$30 if I would of found a shared-TV replacement part. I also would of spent a few more hours looking for the correct part and *hoped* that it worked for my Z52DC2D.

This way the part is guaranteed, and I can return it if it doesn't work.

However thanks for the help! if anyone ever needs the exploded-view of parts for the Z52DC2D just PM me.

Cheers!

Okay folks! I finally found a few free moments from work to fix my TV.

The installation went great, but now, The colour isnt correct. Some things looks very washed, some colors arent showing up correctly.

Do I need to access the service menu to correct this?

If you could shed some light that would be great. thank you!

hello Gregutz,

I received your message, if the colors are off after installing the colorwheel, I believe it might be a simple issue with the DMD which can be fixed if you remove a jumper it connects to, please see the example on the listing below...
