hi
the model is a lg dlp - dt62sz71db australian model
picture pixel up then froze
turned of via remote there was a delay
tried to turn on via remote
all that happened was the operational led kept flashing orange continually, no picture, sound or menu nor any of input ports accepting any signal
the lamp still lights up ok and has normal voltage
all cooling fans operating
the power supply seem ok as out put voltage in normal
I have some electronic background (can read schematics etc.)
Tried replacing the lamp with no effect, possible ballast issue, any idea's

Re: Help Plz
Seems like a DMD board issue to me. If it was the ballast that wouldn't explain why the pictures freezes and the delay when turning the TV off.

Re: Help Plz
Thanks for that, what is a DMD board?, you were right as replacing the ballast has no effect.
Previously the unit would not power up, the amber led would flash, then turn red.
replaced the lamp & amber LED just flashes. So replaced the ballast, the unit pwrs up, you can see white light on the screen as if it going to start, but justs flashes amber... left it like this for 40mins & still flashing.

Re: Help Plz
Well after posting previous message, I had turned the tv off via the remote & left it alone for 3hrs in standby mode.
I dicided turning on via the remote, the amber flashed as per normal, then turned "green" the functions on the front panel worked as I touched it, but there was no picture or sound. I was going to try & access the service menu to reset the timer as I did not do this when I replaced the lamp 12mths ago but I press the on/off button on the remote accidently & the unit turned straight off without any delay.
Very weird, I will attempt this again & see if will do the same...

Re: Help Plz
The DMD board is the device that controls all the picture process. The DMD chip is composed by several hundred thousand microscopic mirrors, each of them corresponds to one pixel on the screen. If the DMD board fails it could lead to a lot of different symptoms: picture freezing, strange patterns, no image, etc. (more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Micromirror_Device).kiwibyte wrote:Thanks for that, what is a DMD board?, you were right as replacing the ballast has no effect.
