This is almost always an issue with the lamps ballast, do not get frustrated, if you read many posts you will find it needs to be replaced at least one during the TVs life time. How long has it been since you changed the lamp?

I have never changed it. I bought it used. I cleaned all the dust out the back and reset the lamp timer and it worked great for 2/3 weeks then started it again. I now am figuring the ballest. I did notice though when I cleande out the dust tbhe picture seemed more better and viberant.

I am thinking more like it is time to change the lamp... amy foggy spots on the middle glass bubble of the lamp or glass face? maybe even a frosted tip in the wires coming from the filament inside the lamp?

ok soooo... i have changed the lamp with a phillips lamp and reset the lamp timer. It lasted about a week or two and started again, so I replaced the balast with a phillips balast and same thing lasted about two weeks and it is starting to act up again. maybe a fan????
