No picture just sound
I replaced my lamp and reset it. Now I have no picture just sound, the tv will not cut off unless unplugged. The color wheel is going bad would this cause all off my problems?
Re: No picture just sound
stuart,
A bad color wheel would cause your TV to turn off. It will not have anything to do with your tv not powering off. Explain a bit more. Why do you think color wheel? Does it make a noise? What is your model number?
I'm guessing that the digital board is going bad.

Re: No picture just sound
The tv is a Samsung HLP 5063w. The color wheel was making a noise. When I took it out I could fell that the bearing were bad. The Tv does not actually cut off it has no picture the lamp light starts flashing it goes into standby mode the lamp starts flashing again. It will not cut off unless I unplug the tv.
Re: No picture just sound
stuart,
Did you put the color wheel cable in backwords? It happens too often... An average user can't tell which way is the right way to plug that cable in.
It's a possibility.

No the TV worked for about 6 hours and now no picture the color wheel noise is gone but the lamp want come on. Would the color wheel not working cause the lamp not to come on.
Re: No picture just sound
Stuart,
Yes, if the color wheel is not spinning at the proper speed (there is a sensor on the color wheel housing, and a timing mark on the wheel itself) then the ON signal will not be sent to the DMD board from the color wheel. This means the TV will not turn on.

I replaced the color wheel and the lamp. My tv worked for about two days no problems. Now when I turn on the tv the lamp light flashes unplug the tv for about an hour I start backs working. After about twenty minutes the picture goes out I checked and the lamp is not on. Let it cool of tv works again another twenty minutes and out goes the lamp.
Re: No picture just sound
stuart,
You may have damaged the temp sensor when you opened up your TV. It's a slight possibility that the Temp Sensor is bad. I think D-M sells them for around $20.
It's worth a try. Next guess would be DMD board just because in your first post you said that the TV would not turn off unless unplugged.
