Help, what to try next

Post by dallaswinn » Tue May 25, 2010 11:54 pm

Have changed out the lamp and only have a flickering black and white picture. Hear a humming on start up, so some motor is running. Maybe it's the color wheel? Have taken the back off but don't know what to look for. Ideas?????

Hello dallaswinn.
The symptoms that you are describing is probably from a defective color wheel. that humming noise is very conmen when the wheel is shattered or broken. My first suggestion is to inspect your color wheel physically. As for where to look for the wheel, here is a post that might help you.

as for how to replace the wheel:

& if you do plan on buying one:

Make sure you buy searching with the exact part number & same TV model number.
Good luck.

Thanks so much for the awesome pics. . . they are very useful. I pulled the projection bulb and case out and looking into the light tunnel, I can see colored pieces which I assume is a broken color wheel. I don't want to take it apart until this weekend when I have more time, but would like to order the part. So, do you think I need to order just the wheel or is there some combination assembly that I should get? By the way, it's a Samsung model HLN4365W. Thanks for all the help.
