WD65734 with red Status Light

Post by us244881 » Mon Jan 03, 2011 4:18 pm

My Wd65734 DLP box will not power up or respond to system reset. In either case as i try to power the unit up I end up with a steady red status light on the front panel. Info on the web is confusing. I cannot determine if I have a lamp problem or a more serious issue with the power supply or other circuit board. Can anyone decypher these symptoms for me? Thanks

Followup: Today I learned how to get error codes, and this unit is displaying a error code 48, which evidently indicates a problem with the PWB Main board. Is this one that has capacitor issues or is this one I just replace the whole board?

Anyone out there?????????? I have pulled the circuit board chassis out of this thing and visually inspected the primary power card and the Main circuitboard. No visible issues with swelling capacitors or blown fuses. My question now is, based solely on the error 48 code, what is the confidence level that installing anew PWB-Main is going to correct my issue. I welcome any feedback. Thanks

Have you ever replaced the lamp? If you have never replaced the lamp I would try that first. That is the easiest way to troubleshoot the TV, and worst case scenerio, you have a spare lamp if the new one doesn't fix the problem. Where did you learn about the error codes? Was it directly from the service manual?
