I could not find this lens sold apart from a light engine =( do you have a part number off the light engine? I have a lot of friends with service centers and I can maybe track this part down!

If I can't i saw some light engines for around 300$ I think its a good price to pay to save a 60 inch HDTV...

Hope I can Help!

Hello, My lens is on it's way out. tail, tail dark upper left and lower right corners.
Did you ever find a source for the lens?
I did find a link once before (page has changed-www.61md10.org-) where a guy took the lens to a lens place and figured out size and magnification. Then cut out old one and replaced with a glass one. I seem to remember that It worked pretty well.

My lens is going too, Best advise I've seen is to have a glass smith duplicate just the lens "acrylic condensing lens" I had a link (61md10.org) it has changed, to someone who cut the old lens out of the square part and glued in the glass one. I had e-mailed him to contact his glass guy but got no response. You need to know the specs though. I've also seen these tvs go for $100 more than once, and they just need a lamp. I have no storage or i would have bought them.
don't spend too much on it though, apparently these tvs are problematic. If you use an old lens out of another 61 and a new lamp, it will probably melt too. It seems the lens and the lamp age together (lamp dims over time-less heat) the old acrylic can not handle the high heat of a new lamp.
One guy "said" the original lamp had a UV lens on it and the one he bought from ebay did not have a UV lens and could have contributed to lens failure.
Please let me know if you find source for lens, I am still looking, and will contact glass smiths in my area. Just not a priority right now.

I'm still watching my TV with the old lamp, still very watchable, but dark movies not so much. Black spots have not gotten worse.
Infocus wrote me back and said they recommend I buy a new TV because they do not have parts or service for mine? I wrote back and said I thought American Tv manufactures were supposed to keep parts for 7 years (the law), I have not heard back from them  .
Can anyone tell me the focal length or magnification of the acrylic condensing lens? I will find a glass one if possible like the other guy who has not responded.
Thanks
Randy

Im sorry I havent been able to find any lying around either, If someone out there could give us those dimensions I could look for an identical one, (i am sure infocus did not produce the internals for this TV, they use either samsung or philips, etc) there has to be tons of parts out there...

My TV just did exactly the same thing. I replaced the lamp yesterday, and apparently the heat of the new lamp finally melted the acrylic lens. Big black splotchy spot that started in the upper left part of the screen and spread. And of course I tried putting the old lamp in, hoping against hope that it was the new lamp only. Nope. Still big black splotch. I researched on the net, and narrowed it down to this problem. I would also like to know if anyone has been successful replacing just the acrylic condenser lens by having a glass one made and refitted??

How did you do it? What are the specs? How expensive is that?

InFocus was zero help as usual. Told me basically if that did happen, it was my fault for not blowing $400 on the lamp directly from them, and buying a new OEM lamp off ebay. Said the lamp must have gotten too hot and done it. Not like it was stupid to make the lens out of plastic in the first place and stick it next to something that gets volcanically hot. Then he said he had no replacement part numbers for anything except the lamp! I was trying to find the p/n for the light engine to see how much it was and if it was even available. Of course, the issue with that is--how long til the new acrylic lens in the new light engine melts too? After I called a couple repair places, they essentially said the part did not seem to be available, and if they could find it, part plus labor would run around $1000 anyway.

Ok, new TV I guess.

Unless anyone has the lens information????? Thanks.

Hey guys,

Of course, I am having the same problem.. So as a few have mentioned, I also noticed a post where someone had removed the lens and had a "glass smith" create a new one.. I love my TV, and don't want to give up on it, along with the fact that I really don't have the funds to purchase a new TV.. I would like to give that a shot, but haven't been able to figure out how to get to the lens that needs to be replaced..

Can someone offer up some instructions on how to remove the lens(light engine) so I can work on the second part of fixing it?
