Samsung HLN507WX video shaky/distorted

My 7 year old HLN507WX works fine for 10 minutes and then the video starts to get shaky. sometime both audio and video just disappears and it doesn't take any input from the remote or side panel. I have to unplug the mains and wait another 15 - 20 minutes to power up again.

Here is a youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J6wCzwPZg0

I disconnected the audio video source and just used the sidepanel audio/video input selector screen to avoid any possible confusion with the video source

Any suggestion or help is appreciated

Alex

Hi!
I took a look at your video, my first suggestion would be to take a look at your colorwheel. Those color malfunctions and white flashes can be indicators of cracked glass on the wheel, preventing it from focusing on color correctly and letting spontaneous burst of white light through. There is a guide on this websites homepage that can help guide you through removal.
Hope you found this helpful!

pepe, Thanks for the reply.

I am little confused here. My TV is giving diffrent symptoms each time i turn it on

The latest issue is, I get a washed picture after the TV runs for aprox 10-20 minutes and then, it doesn't respond to the remote control or side panel. If I try to turn it off using the power button on the side panel, it goes into "mute" with no sound, but doesn't turn the TV off. The only way to turn it off is to unplug the power from the mains

a bad color wheel may give problem like this ?

since the tv gives video in the beginning, I am ruling out the possibility of a bad lamp. As the color wheel not making any noise I am ruling out that also

The remaining are either DMD/Light engine or Digital board.

I am leaning more towards DMD as I read some posts that if the menu, TVF/Video button display also distorted, it is DMD board.

I am open to all suggestions and even a wild guess. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyone reading this post, feel free to replay with whatever you opnion is or guess. appreciate it!!

I agree it is either just the DMD board or you might have to replace the complete light engine sometimes called optical block, here is a link of where you can find one if it comes down to that!

hope fully it is just the DMD board!

Pepe, Thanks for the reply.

Is there any way to rule out the possibility of a bad digital board? What are the symptoms when a digital board starts acting up? I searched a lot, but i couldn't find the symptoms of a failing digital board. Thanks a ton!

hello alex,
well the main function of the digital board is to convert analog signal into digital so that it can be projected on your screen. If you try both HDMI (digital) vs Component (Analog) and the symptoms change then it is most surely the DV board. However given the wide array of problems I am sure this is either the DMD or light engine,
good luck!

thanks in advance!

I have very similar symptoms, but did not see the resolution to your problem. Was it the DMD or Digital board?
