Colorwheel replacement + what else?

My Samsung HLN567WX color wheel just went. The lamp has 17000+ hours on it, so I will replace it also. Is replacing the ballast required? / a good idea?/ or not necessary? Any other things to do while it is opened up? Would like to only make one parts order and one job. Set is 6 years old. Would like another 3-4 years from it.

Hello donchilton.
The ballast is not necessary required, but if you are willing to spend, and keep the tv for another 4 years or more, I would recommend it. I explained a little more detail on a previous post about the components of these DLP TVs

Well back to the issue on hand. The light engine and DMD board fail only when you abuse the TV pretty good, so I don’t think its necessary replacing them.
