Samsung Projection TV - Brightness

Hi,

I have a Samsung Projection TV model HCR4755WX.

The set is about 5 years old and the past year the brightness of the set is decreasing.
I have set the contrast and brightness setting up to 98%

Several questions.

Does this set have a bulb that I can have replaced?
Can the set be opened and cleaned? Would this help?
Except for the brightness, the set works great.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Hap...

I am not sure how to respond, so I leave this comment in the original question:
I have searched on discount-merchant.com and there is no bulb listed there.
Unfortunately, this is not a DLP set.

Thanks

Hello,
Your tv does have a lamp that normally has be replaced after about 8000 hrs. That's if you have a Philips lamp. "most mayor tv brand carie it"
The guys at discount-merchant.com do free trouble shooting and they have the lamp available.

Hi,

I have searched on discount-merchant.com and there is no bulb listed there.
Unfortunately, this is not a DLP set and it seems that they only have DLP bulbs listed.

Can I remove the cover to expose the lens and bulbs?
The only access appears to be remove all the screws in the back of the large back cover.

Any tricks to this?

Thanks
Hap

FYI: I just found the reply button

Unfortunately they don't make these type of bulbs.

I read some where out there on the internet that the blue tube/bulb can get a mold growth on it.

I also read that cleaning the:
1) Lens
2) Mirrow
3) Screen

Might help improve the brightness.

I read that a mixture of water and bleach would clean the mold.

Does this sound correct?
Will cleaning help at all?

Anything specail about removing the back cover, or do I just take out the screws in the back and lift the cover off?

Thanks,
Hap...

The cleaning methods you posted might help, make sure it is all dry before turning tv on.
I wouldn't rely on it though.
And yes! just take out the screw and start working on it :)
