Hello Guys,

I have 3 year old Samsung DLP TV Model #HL-T5075SX/XAA. I have following issue.

- When I first hit power on button on the TV, blinking green 'lamp' LED comes on and make noise as if TV is starting on.
- It will make Little loud clicking noise for a sec and then hear cooling fan and color wheel noise. There is green light on the back of the TV.
- TV front panel shows blinking green 'lamp' LED for 30 sec and so then stop and solid red 'standby' light comes for a sec.
- Then again TV try to turn on with blinking green 'lamp' LED for 30 sec and so then stop and solid red 'standby' light comes for a sec.
- This process repeated for total 3 times when finally TV stop trying and 3 blinking LEDs (standby/temp, timer, lamp) comes on.
- When I hit the power button again, same process repeat itself.

From what I heard if it was bulb then I can hear sound but no picture. But in my case there is no sound and no picture and that the reason why I am suspecting that it may not be a bulb issue and may be ballast issue.

I would really appreciate if anyone can suggest me something.

Thanks

Hello,
I think it might be time to replace your ballast, this is the second most common problem with RPTVs and it is one of the consumable parts that need replacement at least once during a projection TVs life span. Weak ballasts can ignite an older more “spent” lamp since the mercury quantity might be lower, but has problems when it is replaced with a new mercury rich lamp. A sure way to diagnose this problem is an electronic “arching” sound emitted during ignition, like a buzzing, that is the sound of the ballast not being able to generate the 15kv needed to ignite the lamp. Another indicator is the lamp error code, since the lamp is not igniting, TV automatically believes this is an issue with the lamp, unfortunately it has no sensor for the ballast!

... but giving the clicking sound I am leaning more towards the ballast!...
hope this helps
