Identical TVs...Different Bulbs

I own two of the HLR4667WAX/XAA TVs, bought at different times. I keep a used lamp on hand as a temporary spare while waiting for a replacement to be shipped...it came out of TV1.
I had a problem with TV2 (randomly shutting off, no other failure indications at all) so I wanted to swap the lamp first. I discovered the lamp housings are different (TV2 has the "hump" on the housing, while TV1 does not) and the stickers on each the housings specify different lamp types:
TV1 BP96-01394A
TV2 BP96-01403A
Not wanting to buy a new lamp specifically for TV2 and have the fault remain, I went ahead and swapped in my spare and turned it on...to my happiness the lamp fired right up and the TV runs fine! The intermittent shutting off hasn't returned, but I don't use TV2 often so I'm not 100% certain it's fixed, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!
I'm curious as to why the different lamps when it appears they are interchangeable...any ideas? Could this shorten the TV life in some way?
