My 61" Samsung DLP went out last night, the lamp and stanby light are on the bulb was replaced a little over a year ago but does not come on and no picture at all. I am sure the lamp is out again, but do not understand the other issue I am having. My problem is when I plug the tv in it starts making a loud noise similar to a high volume fan that is missing a blade this happens without ever trying to turn the tv on. It does this for about a minute then quits for about twenty seconds does it again and then quits completely.
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Loud noise, not screeching
I am having the same problem with my 61' Samsung DLP as well. I initially thought it was the lamp and just had it replaced. When I turn on my TV after replacing the lamp, I still get that loud buzzing sound but with no picture what so ever. I have no idea whats going on at all. Anyone with any advice? Thank you in advance.

Hi guys,
You have the symptoms of a bad color wheel. I recommend you to replace it. If want to do it yourself check this guide: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php, maybe is not the same color wheel you have but the directions are the same.
