Samsung HLN5065W On for 10 seconds then shuts off

I recently got a Samsung HLN5065W for free as something is wrong with it.

I can power it on, I hear what I think is the color wheel spin up, I hear a click, then another spinup sound.
After a few seconds I can see on the screen - "DVI Check Signal Cable"
After 5 seconds the set shuts down and the Timer, Lamp and Temp lights are all blinking at the same time.

If I unplug the set for a few seconds I can do this all over again.

Before I got the set the previous owner had it with no problems until the lamp went. He ordered a new one and got a few months until now when it just quit working.

So far I've taken it apart and verified that both fans are spinning. I cleaned up any dust on the DMD heatsink and out of the fans.

From reading in these forums I thought that maybe the bulb was replaced with an OSRAM one that may have lasted a few months. I took it apart and saw that the bulb was a toshiba. Then I thought there could be a ballast/lamp mismatch so I took a look at the ballast and it is model LOC-INHB0300U and is marked toshiba on the sticker. (seems ok to me)

I tried to bake the bulb in the oven at 250 degrees to see if the bulb will start warm. No luck. I got the same results as if it were cold, On for about 5 seconds then shutdown.

I do not see any capacitors that are bulging, nor anything burnt on any of the circuit boards.

The message that is on for 5 seconds is perfectly readable.

I am leaning towards this being a bulb issue, but why it comes on for 5 seconds perfectly dosent make sense.

I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I'd hate to spend 120$ on a bulb for nothing.. Seems a lot of people have issues like these so maybe someone with a little more experience can narrow it down.
Thanks for your time

Maybe your ballast can't hold the minimum voltage to keep the lamp ON, or maybe is a problem with the temp sensor and the TV is shutting off to prevent overheating.

Maybe the previous owner didn't reset the lamp timer, try this first.

HTH.

HTH,
As for the temp sensor, do you know of a way to test it with a multimeter? Is it just something like a thermistor where the resistance would change with the temperature?

The service menu I'll have to try. The TV may shut off before I get a chance to enter into it.

As for the ballast, maybe I should look into a matched ballast and Phillips lamp. That seems to be everyone's recommendation.
