new bulb - 3 lights

Post by fgo2 » Mon May 18, 2009 10:31 pm

Three lights after cable company came out for other issues with signal. Replaced bulb on my 43hln437w with one bought on ebay in original samsung box. When I plug tv in, it tries to power up automatically. Hear color wheel spinning, but no clicking sounds. After a couple of cycles, same three lights.

Before I give up on this 7 year old set, I welcome any suggestions. Thanks

Hi fgo2,

Did you reset the lamp timer? Instructions are available here: /viewtopic.php?f=10&t=92

This procedure needs to be done every time you replace the bulb.

Hope this helps.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I cannot get the menu to load. In fact, the unit does not respond to the power switch. Unplug, wait a minute and plug back in and the unit automatically tries to power up. Two cycles than 3 blinking lights again, two green and a red.

If anyone has any other suggestion as I don't want to give up quite yet.

Well, if you see the three LEDs blinking then the TV is able to reset the timer unless the problem is with any other part. I just want to be sure you tried with no success. The problem you're describing has the symptoms of a timer that needs to be reset, if it wasn't the timer then the problem would be most probably with the ballast, but as you said, there's no clicking noise.

is there any noise out of the normal behavior?

NE Help - thanks for trying to help.

I cannot get the tv to power off to attemt the lamp timer reset. Each time I unplug and plug in, the unit tries to fire up. I then try menu+1+ 8 +2+ power as soon as I plug in, but the set keeps try to turn on and it does not display the menu. I am wondering why it automaticlly tries to turn on each time it is plugged in. Power off button on side and on remote do not work.
