Hi there, I have a Samsung ST43L2HD DLP set that is like 4 years old now, about 6 months ago it started showing diagonal moving lines in the screen. The lines appear whenever an analog, 480i, input is used. That is, the RF antenna input, all composite, all s-video, and Component 1 with a 480i signal. The lines do not appear with the DVI input, the Component 2 & 3 inputs, and in the secondary image of the PIP window even if it's the Antenna. They won't appear in the TV's menu if displayed. This didn't bother me since I usually use a DVR box though a Component input at 1080i, and an upconverting DVD through the DVI input, but now I have a problem since I had to take the DVR box to another room and I'm having a problem with the DVD image I'll explain later .

Another thing happening is that the image after 30 minutes of use or so, freezes in a black and white mode and I have to turn it off. After turning it on the problem will show earlier like at 5 minutes or so. I've heard this is a DMD board issue, and I would like to know if changing it will fix the screen lines too. The new issue I'm having is that when I try to use My upconverting DVD (connected at the DVI input), the image will go away and show a blue screen. I can hear the sound but cannot see the image. If I stop the movie, the DVD Player's menu (not the movie Menu) can be seen but as soon as I start to play the disc it will go away again. I tried the DVD in My LCD and works just fine, so it's the TV. The same thing happens if I put the DVD in a component input at any resolution (480p, 720p or 1080i). What can be happening here? will the DMD board replacement fix this too and is there a Guide to do it myself? Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, it definitely seems that you need a new DMD board, it will fix the freezing problem. About the lines I'm not sure, since that problem could also be produced by the digital board. You can display the TV menu and see if the lines appear also over it, that would mean that the DMD board is the problem, but if they don't then the problem is your digital board. However since you need to replace the DMD board anyway, my recommendation is to do this and then check if the lines still there.

About the blue screen I think it could be the digital board so it seems that you need to replace two boards .

As far as I know there is no guide that shows how to replace the DMD board, however there are some color wheel replacement guides that can help you to take the light engine out, and then you can replace the DMD board instead of the color wheel. About the blue screen, I tested a burned DVD and it plays through the DVI input, and also some DVD's that I assume are not copy protected. the ones that I cannot play are original movie discs, and they won't play in the analog 720p or 1080i inputs. Can this be related to the loss of HDCP recognition or other kind of content protection by the TV? I think that if the digital board was the problem the DVD's would play fine through the other inputs. I have not tried the composite inputs though, I'll try them today and let you know. Thanks.

Actually the analog signals are converted to digital and pass through the digital board as well.

I've never heard about any content protection by the TV, I think the TV cannot see the difference between an original movie and a not copy protected movie disk, it just detect video, so the problem could be on the resolution of the movie. Since you're having issues with your DMD board (and I think the digital board as well) it could be that is not able to reproduce the video but it could display the DVD menu which is much simpler. This is just an idea.
