Well I hope I can get the right answers
first... i have replaced the lamp(phillips), the ballast, from discount merchant.
My TV takes forever to start up and mostly doesnt until after 20-30 minutes "unplugged".
I have dish network but not a hd converter. the picture is slightly grainy and somewhat dark....no lines or other distortions.
i got better picture qualtiy with my digital box and rabbit ear antenna.
i was told by a tv tech its the DMD board.
discount merchant agrees.
the primary problem is start up... I think...its a drag having a nice 61 inch tv thats not doing its job
its a Samsung HLN617W.
any advice??

Re: samsung dlp hln617w
I Agree. Since the DMD board is the one that "controls" the start up, it could be that is not working properly and is not "sending" the "go signal" to the color wheel, ballast, etc.
I would recommend to change the DMD. Like I said, most probably just by replacing the DMD board is going to fix your problem.
Regards.
