HLP6163 screen shuts off intermitently...help?

As title implies, my tv (purchased in Jan 05) blacks out every once in awhile. There's no telling when; sometimes its 30 minutes, other times 2 hours, and sometimes not at all. I shut it off for a couple minutes and it comes back to life, but eventually it blacks out again after 10, 20, maybe 40 minutes. The red temp/standby light comes on. The fan is working properly, and I've researched replacement bulbs elsewhere on this site. Color is fantastic, too; no fading or weak picture. Invariably, the TV blacks out in the middle of any and all of my favorite athletic competitions, usually at the height of the contest. Help! My wife is getting angry with me b/c I can't repair our big dollar TV...Thanks in advance.
