Greenish / Redish blurry screen once in a while
Greetings All. I have a samsung hl-p4663w that seems to have a issue once in a while. The screen will wash out almost green and red only, every input, on the menus it appears too. But i can get this to go away if i turn off the unit and turn it back on. Any ideas? Thanks!
Re: Greenish / Redish blurry screen once in a whil
Hi comptom.
If the menu is affected the problem is with your DMD board, however, since the problem go away when turn OFF and ON, I think this problem appears when the DMD board overheats. My recommendation: Vacuum the light engine, that should help.

i mean it could be like instant on and off to fix it. i'll try that vacuum. any idea which DMB board i would need, or do i have to open it to find out?

I recommend you to take it out so you can see the exact part you need.compton wrote:i mean it could be like instant on and off to fix it. i'll try that vacuum. any idea which DMB board i would need, or do i have to open it to find out?
Ok, maybe the problem is in the analog board, and your menu seems affected because it's somewhat transparent. Try the HDMI input and tell me how it goes.compton wrote:also seems like if i plug something into comp1 or 2 it wont see it. i've tried an xbox and a dvd player. i may just be stupid to all of this
Hope this helps.

Re: Greenish / Redish blurry screen once in a while
i've been watching tv all morning on the HDMI port, no color issues. Seems like its random and if you power cycle the tv sometimes it will go away. But if it doesnt happen on start up, it wont happen at all when you watch the tv.
Re: Greenish / Redish blurry screen once in a while
well i took off the back cover, and found part number
BP63-00344a
the screen was looking all red and greenish, i turned it off and it wouldn't want to turn back on. it would just flash the lights after it wouldnt turn on the screen. the lamp and fans will fire, but will shut off as i'm watching it from the back.
where the HDMI plugs into is part number BP94-02140a
and where s video and component plug into is part number bp94-02149B
suggestions?

Re: Greenish / Redish blurry screen once in a whil
The HDMI plugs into the digital board, and the S-Video into the analog board. I've never heard of a TV that turns OFF because of one of these two components. When this happens is because of one of the following issues:compton wrote:well i took off the back cover, and found part number

1. Overheating (you already vacuumed all the dust, so just check if the fans and temperature sensor are working properly).
2. You need a new lamp (discard, you can see your lamp turning ON).
3. You have a good lamp but the lamp hours meter needs to be reset (instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=92&p=237).
4. Bad color wheel (You can check it physically, here's a replacement guide so you can see the steps to take it apart: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php.
5. Bad ballast (rare, since you can see your lamp turning ON, but maybe it can't keep the needed voltage).
6. Any combination of the above suggestions.
If your "greenish / redish blurry" issue goes away when changing to the HDMI input then you do have a problem with the analog board, but it seems like you have another problem now.compton wrote:i've been watching tv all morning on the HDMI port, no color issues. I Hope this can help you.
