Samsung DLP Loud Popping Noise

I purchased a 56" Samsung DLP TV about 1.5 years ago. Over the last 3-4 months I have been hearing a loud popping noise at different intervals. Sometimes it pops a couple of times over a 2 minute period and other times it pops after about an hour. Yesterday the color started going dark. What do you think the problem is?
