I have a dell w4200hd tv that is not turning on. I get the blue light after I power on, the ballast cycles a loud click, but then I get a red light on the board. I have replaced 2 caps that rea 250v 1000uf 105c. They were bulged out so I figured that was the problem. That didnt work. Can you help me out here because I am stuck. Thanks

You replaced two caps on the power supply? Did you take a probe and run it through all the ICs on that board yet?

preludedez,
The capacitors won't overbulg for no reason. They can dry out, but expansion is normally due to a failure within a resistance lead from or to the the caps. Check the SMD's for failure as well as the transistors on the board.

It may be easier to replace the power supply. I would check places like partstore or Discount-Merchant.com to see if they have it.

I'm sorry but plasmas suck. I bought my Vizio less than two years ago and apparently the "Y Sustain" Module board is bad on it...Vizio doesn't care, they just want to sell millions of TVs...they can care less about supporting their customers. Even Costco now only has a 90 day warranty. I'm gonna by a Sony or a Panasonic next time, at least I know those guys are going to be in business tomorrow. It's not good news when the servicers talks bad about the manufacturer (cough, cough, VIZIO) and they say parts are almost impossible to find.

Dell's probably got the same crappy support as Vizio...

WereDOOMED,
I had trouble finding Vizio parts as well and your Y-SUSTAIN problem is a common issue. Let me guess, its a 50" Vizio? Here is a link to Discount-Merchant selling it for $154.99 !!!:

CHEAP fix to your Vizio TV. I go through 3-4 of these TV repairs a week at our service center.... It's a VERY COMMON problem, but the solution is above. I don't know what I would do without these guys.

Ovadggvo,

Yes, I got the 50"...how'd you know??? You get a lot of my model for repair or all crappy Vizio's have the same problem?
Picture looks great, but I can't justify buying another Vizio if it's going to crap out right after the warranty is toast. My Sony tube is still working after 15-16 years!!!! Just weighs a ton and its only a 25"

Thanks Ovadoggvo.

Oh, by the way, can I do the repair or exchange myself or do I really need the tech guy?
