Samsung dlp- no pic/sound- new bulb- HELP!

Post by baddoodle » Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:02 am

We got a 56" samsung DLP tv from a friend because he didn't want to bother, model number HLN5065w. He said it just stopped working so he bought a new bulb and did install it correctly. However, we get no picture when we turn it on. We have never witnessed this tv in full working order. When we power it on we hear a winding up noise coming from inside (like the normal start up noise?? we have never heard it start up, but it sounds similar to my parents dlp tv start up only slightly louder) and then it sounds like it just powers off and then on continuously without any picture or sound until unplugged. The front light indicator for the LAMP keeps on blinking during this, but we were under the impression that this meant it was warming/starting up to power on. We dont have to outer lamp bay cover, but we have held the auto off pressure switch to get this far (as mentioned in the manual and on samsungs troubleshooting web page). Before we held the switch down, the lamp and temp indicator lights were flashing right away after plugging it in, indicating the lamp cover was not on correctly (meaning the auto off switch wasn't pressed, causing it to stay off completely). We got no start up noise until we held the switch down with a credit card to troubleshoot. Assuming we will have a proper cover and the auto off switch is not the issue causing the problem, What else could the problem be? Possibly a ballast? We are very limited on funds, so we want to be almost completely sure before purchasing new parts. Thank You!!!

I have a similar problem with a 50' Samsung HRL5078W.
Picture and sound just disappeared while watching.

When plugged in, red 'Standby/temp" is on,

Presseing on/off on remote - one click heard and green indicator 'lamp' blinks, can see that light is on thru openings in back), stays on for a while then goes out.

Pressing any button - 'timer' light also blnks.

Left awhile, all indicator lights and lamp go of.

CAn any one p;ease advise?f

I just dealt with this problem. Maybe this will help you. I found the following link.

http://www.ehow.com/how_4802985_fix-samsung-dlp-tv.html

Apparently there is a little blue switch that is supposed to be pushed into the down position when you put the back cover panel back on, but if that switch is not pushed down, the tv won't turn on. According to this link, they used a pencil to help push it down, but that didn't work for us. We ended up just taping it with masking tape. Not sure how safe this is, but it worked: tv came on.

Hope this helps!

sounds like a digital board issue for the one that the lamp keeps flashing. there is an issue with the dnie chip solder braking. A solder reflow may fix it. please go here and look at the long thread.

Have ordered and replaced the lamp; and tried holding down the blue switch - no positive response.

Is there a fuse or fuses on the tv side?
Looked but couldn't find any.
Only response to remote is "timer" light flashing, then the lamp goes off!!

if the lamp is coming on but has no video and you have sound I would say it's the dmd board.
