Maganavox 42MF231D Botton half screen blacks out

Its intermittant - if you move tv it comes back on - I opened it up & jiggled all the cables - seemed to work for a few weeks but its back. A tech came & looked at it said it was the "lower board" - what the heck is that? Any help would be appreciated - thanks.
If its the Lower y-drive does anyone have a part# for that - discount merchant couldn't find one based just on my model number.

I was able to see a picture of the board on Discount-Merchant & thus when I opened up the TV I realized that one of the cables was behind something - I moved that out of the way & reset it & all the cables on that board 2X - now its been working for 5 weeks & no problem. Easy fix - thank goodness

TonyC1,
The problem that you are describing is caused by the INFAMOUS buffer boards...
Part number LJ41-02760A LJ96-01202A (9965 0003 2639 / 996500032639) - Upper buffer can be found here:
http://www.discount-merchant.com/We-pro ... ku9503.htm
Part number LJ41-02761A LJ96-01203A BN96-02216A (9965 0003 2640 / 996500032640) - Lower buffer can be found here:

Meddling with the cables may have fixed it temporarily but I assure you that one of them is starting the fail... If it doesn't fail today or next week. It will in a few months! It seems like they have a timer on these boards that go out! The IC's on the board begin to deteriorate over time until they cause lines or blackouts on the screen. Each buffer board controls 50% of the screen.
Good luck and I hope it lasts for a long time.. but if it doesn't, at least you know how to fix it!
