I have a Samsung DLP HLR4667. This thing has worked great for the past 4 years, but last week the bulb finally died. I replaced the bulb and turned the tv back on. The color is great, but after about 10 minutes it started to make a very loud whirring noise. I turned it off and it stopped within a few seconds.
I waited until the evening and turned it on again. I watched for a few minutes and then heard a very low humming. A couple of minutes went by and it became the loud whirring again.
I'm hoping its not the color wheel, but I checked the exhaust fan and nothing is touching it. I was hoping that a wire was getting in the way... Any ideas?? Again the color is perfect, its just this loud noise.

Re: Loud whirring sound
The color wheel could be going bad... it hasn't happened yet, but that's what a bad ball bearing sounds like inside a color wheel. You'll start to notice color anomalies eventually and then the TV will stop turning on.
