JVC 56FN97 light engine or optical block
How can you tell if the optical block needs replaced or the whole light engine? My picture is very dim and is a little brighter on the right bottom corner and almost completely black on the left side? It started with what appeared to be a reddish or lack of yellow in the center of the screen not dead center but left and lower than center.

Re: JVC 56FN97 light engine or optical block
Hello,
you got me confused, maybe you mean a DMD board?!
An Optical Block is used in LCD RPTVs and a Light Engine is used in DLP RPTVs, they are the same part yet one uses DLP micro mirror technology and the other LCD 3 color chip-set technology.. I think this TV is a DLP so you are looking at a DMD board along with a LIGHT ENGINE...
hope this helps!
