Disco lights
Hello. My Hitachi Ultrivision 55VS69 now when turning on the power blue light comes on then followed by blinking red temp and lamp light. Kinda pretty in the dark but would rather watch tv. Now more to the story. Before this started we had some kind of power flicker enough to turn off tv, stereo, cable box, but not long enough to have to go around and reset clocks. (dunno). It is plugged into a medium priced surge protector. Have tried the unplug it idea and reset the surge protector. Everything else works fine. Any idea?

Agent,
FixYourDLP.com has nearly all the owner's manuals for ALL RPTV's online...here's the blog article for the Hitachi RPTV Manuals:
http://www.fixyourdlp.com/blog/2009/02/ ... -lcd-tv’s/
Direct link to your particular PDF doc: http://fixyourdlp.com/blog/manuals/Hita ... 62VS69.pdf
This is a good starting point for the blinking light problems on the Hitachi TVs.
Here's a snapshot of the error codes you can find on page 9 of the user guide attached
So it could be a few different things per the manual...could be the lamp, insufficient cooling...or as simple as the lamp unit door not closed or a bad sensor. I would pull out the lamp and see if it's imploded. If not, slide it back in place, close the lamp door cover tight and give it another go before doing anything else.
let me know what happens.

Re: Disco lights
Agent,
Would be interesting to find out, was your lamp originally a Philips or a Matsushita? These two companies were the OEM lamp manufacturer for all the Hitachis. From most people's experience, the Philips far outlasted the Matsushita bulbs.
thanks!
