"Shadowing" and blotches..

Post by Grant » Mon Apr 27, 2009 7:32 pm

Hello all..I was wondering if anyone has had the same or similar problem that I have now. My tv..Samsung HLT 5076S DLP has "darkish bands" coming out from the upper left corner of the screen..kind of like a rainbow or spider web, and it continues to grow. On top of that I've noticed some "brownish" spots, or blotches towards the bottom of the screen but in random places. I've read MANY stories about a dark band going down one side from top to bottom, but nothing like the problem I have. ALSO (while I'm at it here) my picture is crooked...tilts down on the left. Does anyone else have, or have had this kind of problem? ..and if so, what did you learn/do about it? I love the tv...but have started to regret going the DLP route..too many issues with it...
Any info anyone has on the subject is greatly appreciated!
Thanks..

 I guess nobody cares about me...

Display the TV menu and see if the darkish bands are visible over it. If so then you could need a new DMD board.

HTH.
The best "Do It Yourself" site for all types of Displays!

Thanks..as it turned out, my warranty was still valid (I paid good money for it..don't usually buy those, but in this case it sure came in handy!) so I had someone come out to look at it. I live in a "cabin-like" house, so it's plenty dusty AND I smoke. So what happened was after the mirrors and screen were cleaned all the things I mentioned disappeared! The picture looks amazing..like brand new out of the box. So..for anyone "out there' with a similar problem, get the thing CLEANED! It sure helped mine. I was at the point where I was considering buying another tv (not a DLP) but I LOVE the picture on mine, especially now!

Thanks a bunch for the help/suggestion though, I do appreciate it.
