Blue/Red/Green squares and strips

Post by caraelizab » Thu May 27, 2010 2:02 am

My Samsung dlp tv has colored squares on it. It's not all of the time and does not appear on the menu or the TVGuide function. It's during live tv and when I turn on the DVD player. I'm not sure how to post a picture but I have many. Can anyone help?

Hello caraelizab.
Looking at the pictures and seeing that the TV guide & TV menu are un affected. So we can discard the DMD board, now the probable cause is with either the analog video board or the digital video board.
Unfortunately the only way to find out which one is the responsible is to test the board using a oscilloscope. What you can do is physically check the two boards for any swollen capacitors or loose circuit.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask

It does not look like anything is misformed or loose. I've read about some fixes for the digital board chip but am not sure how to get to it. Any advise?

To be honest, it’s very difficult to say without actually being there to look at the TV. The only advice I can come up is that you find yourself a honest and down to earth tech that can help you diagnose the problem.
Sorry for only being able to help so much.
Good luck.
