TV turning off and on by itself

Post by grubworm2 » Fri Nov 12, 2010 9:22 pm

For everyone who is having the tv turn off and on by itself, try this. Turn the TV around and look for the ballast board. If you don't know what it looks like, this site shows one. Take a flashlight and check the top of the capacitor. If there is a dark spot and it's bulging out, replace the ballast board. They cost about 90 bucks at Samsungparts.com. Discount -merchant doesn't sell them. If they did, I would've bought it from them because they are the ONLY ONES who gave me the right information. Samsung is useless. By the way, I wrote a letter to the CEO of Samsung in Korea telling him how rotten his TV's are.

Well, the tv worked perfectly for 2 days. Last night, it shut off and then started going off and on again. The new ballast board is fried and we are now being told by a Samsung tech that it's got to be the power supply. Thankfully, the ballast board is in warranty and we can swap it out for a new one for free. The power supply is $165.00 and will take about a week to get here.
I wrote a letter to the Ceo's of Samsung both here in America and in Korea. I will post any reply I get.
