Sony KF-50XBR800 Sound no Picture new bulb
My Bulb went out so I replaced it now the sound comes on but there is no picture. No menu no video source. just an electrical smell. After awhile it turns off then it turns back on. Same thing happens. I can hear the normal fan and whatnot when its starting up however the light just does not come on. I have been doing some searching and it seems that it could be the ballast or a plurality of other things. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hello!
following the logical train of consumable parts to be changed in a RPTV, yes a Ballast probably needs replacing... anything else you can share to help diagnose?

just that I guess that it senses that the new bulb is there but then times out after like a 2-3 minute period where I guess it knows that no picture is being produced and then restarts followed by the same thing over and over.
where can I get a ballast for my tv?

discount-merchant.com has a good inventory at cheap prices, but try taking out the lamp and then unplugging your TV for 24 hrs... that might help...
I do not fully understand why but it seems to work for some of my clients!

I pulled the ballast after having a hard time finding the part number on line. The part number was on the ballast and then it was easy to find online.
couple of clicks later the ballast is on the way.
FYI one board on the ballast was pretty well fried.
Have a good one hope this thread helps someone in the future!
