Color wheel looks ok but not spinning
Well i got a HL-n617 lamp not comming on at all, bulb is ok. Color wheel looks perfect. I took it out and it seems as tho it spins kind of stiff, so i took it out put it in another TV and it spins up fast, but really noisey. Is there any reason it would spin in 1 tv and not in the original? i know its noisy but i just want to make the tv work not be super quiet. I know if the color wheel doesn't spin up it wont even try to power up the balast or lamp. Should i invest the money in a color wheel when it could be a DMD?

Re: Color wheel looks ok but not spinning
Hello srjy2k2.
In my personal experience ive seen many color wheels that look perfect on the outside, don’t make any noises while spinning, but are very stiff. This is causes when the middle bearing is dislocated or depressurized. Thus causing the color wheel NOT to return to its original place while spinning.
When a color wheel starts making noises while spinning, its giving a warning that it’s going to give out. when it has trouble spinning its declaring that the color wheel is dead.
So I suggest you buy a new color wheel.
Good luck.
