clicking noise/ blinking red light

Post by nessa » Sun Sep 05, 2010 2:31 am

I have a sony LCD tv and for awhile got a message on tv stating projection light nearing life replace. Then all the sudden the tv would shut off automatically which resulted in a clicking noise as if it was automatically turning itself off and a red light would keep blinking. I recently changed the bulb and now the tv won't turn on instead it click to turn off and I continue to get a red blinking light. I'm not sure what is going on.

It can be a couple things, 1st check the lamp physically after you've determined that the lamp is burned out Or not. Either way the ballast is most likely to be responsible.

:ugeek:
:o Samsung's are well known to have issues with the Ballast. After a couple of replacements is recommended to change the lamp with the ballast as well. And you will notice that the replacement lamp will last longer like the original lamp that came with the TV. ;)

Once you replace the ballast it will be really important to delay its failure (since this is also a consumable part), and you can expand the lifespan of the ballast by PREVENTING OVERHEATING

You can prevent that by doing some maintenance to your TV, by vacuuming all the dust inside, cleaning the air vents, not having the TV very near the wall. And if you can add a fan outside ponting towards the air vents, that will improve the poor airflow design that this TV's have. There are some fans with flexible arms and a clamp as a base, those are the ones that can be placed really easy.....!!

 Hope this info helps!!!
Change is the only constant, we must become the change we want to see.
