samsung dlp

Post by identtwins » Tue May 19, 2009 2:23 pm

About 2 weeks ago my tv developed a problem. Comes on no problem. Then after 10 mins or maybe up to a hour later the screen goes dark. No pic. If I shut the tv off for a minute or two and turn back on the pic is back. And then it will go off again. No certain amount of time that it stays on. Can anyone help a lady that knows nothing about repairing tv's? Service calls are out of my price range right now. Thanks

I think it could be an overheating issue, try cleaning the fans and air vents first.

If it doesn't work check if the TV is making any noise when the picture goes dark. Are you still having sound?

HTH.

If you can still see light in the back then the problem could be with something in your light engine (which is in charge of redirect the light from the lamp).

However sometimes the light engine behaves strange due to overheating.

To clean the fans and air vents just remove the back cover, locate the fans and use a can of compressed air to remove any dust, do the same with the vents of the cover.
