RCA M50WH92S (DLP) - Will not turn on
Upon plugging it in the power light is lit for only about 5 seconds & then shuts off. If I push the power button again it will light for 5 seonds & then click - goes off. No whirring sounds, no blinking of the power button light - lamp looks good. Any suggestions appreciated!

Have you ever replaced the lamp?
How old is your TV?
Do you hear just one click?

My dad purchased used - not sure if lamp was replaced - yes just one click. Lamp should give a flashing code if needs replaced but it does not. Its a 2007 model. if you go to RiddleTV.com tv reopair forum you can see my post(same title) there with picts of boards & such. Also tested some of output of connectors (as per request on that board) & they seemed ok.
Resistor Bad??
R819 - located on the right of the centered upper heat sink - its one of two pink resistors (orange/orange/yellow/gold striped) & it reads infinity the matching one a bit to its right reads 319 ohm - Can this be the problem? It may have been touching the heat sink - still reads bad when I moved it away. Would this cause other problems if it is bad? How do I order a new one without a part number?
You help is appreciated!

could you post a link to your post on riddletv.com?
Why don't you have the part number?

And actually its reading 319 kohm.
I am not a trained tech just somewhat handy with a soldering iron & a meter.
I may have found the part - do you think this will do the job:
Product ID: RCF1/2-330K
Resistor, 330K Ohm, 1/2W, 5%
Resistor, Carbon Film, 330K ohm, 1/2 Watt, 5%
Manufacturer: Xicon
Manufacturer Part Number: 293-330K
Color Code: Orange, Orange, Yellow, Gold

Darn
Actually when I take it out of the board & test - it reads fine - 323 Kohm
Do resistors typically have to be removed to be tested? Is it significant that the reading goes to infininty while its in - are we on the track of the short?? Help!!!

Which board are you testing?

White box resistors
the white box type resistor on the upper left says R18 on it but is only reading 0.3 ohm the other white box resistor says R22 & it reads 22 ohm. Could the first one be bad - do I need to remove it to be sure?
Its the power supply board
check my link to the riddletv I put in the previous post note its several pages & powersupply board pict is on one of the earlier pages will try to post pict here

I couldn't get this description to show up in previous post although its there when I got to edit???

Ok, I'm getting confused, so lets start from the beginning.TonyC1 wrote:Upon plugging it in the power light is lit for only about 5 seconds & then shuts off. Which light is blinking for 5 seconds?

Re: RCA M50WH92S (DLP) - Will not turn on
No blinking - power button lights up for about 5 seconds & then click & then nothing
PS I took out the second white box shaped resistor & checked it - still only reads 0.3 ohm
It has PHR
MPR 5W
R18 3
written on it - do you think it needs replacing? What kind is that & where to get another if you think its bad.
Thanks

Re: RCA M50WH92S (DLP) - Will not turn on
It's not the resistor. If it's blinking 5 times consecutively, it might be a power supply issue. RCAs are notorious for that problem. Check the capacitors. I don't believe the resisters would be the culprit.

Still no go - resistor is ok - R22 the R indicates decimal should read 0.22 Ohm (according to an EE in the family)
I checked the color wheel - it rotates freely
I also got a capacitance meter & checked all capacitors on the power supply - ok
The darn thing just won't power up - on the power supply board there are a few a couple of connectors on the rights side I checked the voltages as they were stated on the board - ok - but there are also a couple I am not sure how to check (they are the last three pins on the larger of the two white connectors on the lower right of my picture)
one is labeled RELAY DRIVE
nxt one is labeled RUN EN
nxt one is labeled Power Fail
where would I put my leads to check these - what values should I expect?

Given up
Anyone need some parts - Got another tV - will wait to see if anyone needs parts - color wheel turns smoothly (don't know if it actually is ok - TV will not power uo - screen is perfect - there is a problem somewhere - I checked all the CAPS on the power supply they are ok. lamp looks good. If you want a part let me know.
Re: RCA M50WH92S (DLP) - Will not turn on
Hello all. While I'm sure this is a common problem, I thought I would post my fix in case it helps others.. I have this M50WH92S RCA dlp tv and it would rarely come on, and often the lamp would shut off while in use.
In my case the problem was the relay on the power board. Once I replaced this relay, the tv runs stable. I found with the front lamp cover off, and power on, I could toggle the safety switch back and forth to energize the relay multiple times and after a few times, the lamp would light. The tv will run through a startup cycle and the relay and lamp will only light when you can hear the color wheel spinning.
That is how I determined I had a bad relay and once I took the part out, I could test it on the bench as defective.
Hope it helps others with the same problem.
Thanks
